3. The opportunity

Every arrangement conference is the same dance: 2–3 hours with the family, then 1–2 more hours of the director typing the same names, dates, parents, employer, and biographical details into four separate systems — the state EDRS portal for the death certificate, the case-management software (Osiris, Halcyon, Passare), an obituary draft, and SSA-721. At a 200-case-a-year shop that is 600–1,000 director-hours of typing. State EDRS systems reject records on small data errors and force re-entry.
