2. Trend signal — why now?

ServiceTitan IPO’d in December 2024. Public-market margin pressure hit small customers hard in 2025-2026: contracts running $245-$398 per tech per month (small shops paying $325/tech average), 12-36 month minimums, and early-termination fees documented at $18,000-$46,170 in BBB complaints. ServiceTitan’s own marketing now states the platform is “not optimized for companies with 3 or fewer technicians” — they are actively pushing the bottom of the market out the door.

The bottom is loud about it. Capterra 1-star, February 2026: “Program is extremely expensive… Tech support is a joke and waste of time… takes ten times longer to process checks and invoices.” Capterra, November 2025: “they knew we lost a child right after starting and it was just well your in a contract got to pay it in full… you have to pay us for 2 years even tho we cant get live.” G2, February 2026, on a $40,000 contract buyout: “literally PAYING FOR BOTH HOUSECALL AND SERVICE TITAN because we need to use Housecall to run our company because Service Titan is so bad.” Reddit r/HVAC: “I wish I was paying $259/tech. We pay on average about $325/tech. It’s ridiculous.”

Meanwhile Jobber raised Grow tier to $349/mo and Housecall Pro MAX is $299/mo. Even the “alternatives” priced themselves out of the 1-5 tech band. And the AI voice-agent stack got cheap in late 2025/early 2026: OpenAI Realtime mini, Vapi, Retell, Bland all push 24/7 phone receptionists into reach for $50-$100/mo gross cost on small-shop call volume. Five years ago the “answer the phone for a plumber” feature alone was a $300/mo product (CallRail + a human VA). Now it’s a sub-$50 line item.

3. The opportunity

ServiceTitan owns roughly 31% of digitized HVAC contractor share. Their pricing model is built for $5M+ revenue shops with 10+ techs. Their public IPO disclosures, support behavior, and contract terms now actively repel the 1-5 tech segment. Jobber and Housecall Pro raised prices in 2025-2026 trying to ride the same wave upmarket. That leaves a wide-open lane: a tool priced like 2018 Jobber ($49-$99/mo all-in, no contract), with 2026 AI capabilities (voice receptionist, voice-to-invoice, AI dispatch suggestions) baked in, sold specifically as “escape ServiceTitan” rather than as a generic alternative.

The wedge is not the software — every field-service feature is commoditised. The wedge is the migration. ServiceTitan exposes a REST API (developer.servicetitan.io) but their cancel flow gives only 60 days of read-only data access post-cancellation, and BBB threads describe owners needing legal counsel to retrieve their own customer lists.
