3. The opportunity
The insurance-claims AI stack is fully built — for insurers. CAPE Analytics, Nearmap, ClaimTitan, Drodat, Assured. Roofers and homeowners face that stack with iPhones and Word docs. Asymmetric.
JobNimbus, AccuLynx, ServiceTitan, iRoofing — the existing roofing software incumbents — are CRMs and quote builders. They are built to win the lead and schedule the crew. None are positioned, marketed, or legally framed as insurance-appeal counter-evidence. Their inspection PDFs look like sales brochures, not evidentiary documents.
HailTrace ($250–500 per certified report) is the closest analogue, but it certifies that a storm happened on a date — meteorological forensics. It does not assess the actual roof condition with vision-AI, doesn’t generate state-specific appeal letters, and is bought one-off rather than baked into the roofer’s funnel.
Wedge: A purpose-built tool that produces an insurance-grade roof-condition counter-report stamped, geo-tagged, weather-cross-referenced, and bundled with a state-specific appeal letter the homeowner can drop in the mail tomorrow.
