DubScout — dub-quality screen for YouTube creators

2. Trend signal — why now?
On February 4, 2026, YouTube turned auto-dubbing ON by default for all 3M+ Partner Program creators worldwide. The dub is applied automatically based on language detection; the only creator control is a binary channel-wide on/off switch in Studio. There is no per-language review, no confidence score, no way to inspect or correct an individual dub track before or after it goes live.
The quality is openly criticized. HowToGeek’s review (“a great feature with terrible execution”) documents the dub “replaces pretty much the entire audio track, so any sound that’s not spoken dialog goes away,” a voice that is “lifeless, and doesn’t seem to try and match the tone or energy of the original,” and mispronunciations like “MB’ as ‘em-bee’ instead of ‘megabyte.’” YouTube itself acknowledges the AI struggles with “proper nouns, idioms, and jargon” — i.e. exactly the brand names and technical terms a creator’s reputation rests on.
The kicker is the economic damage: per multiple creator-education sources, poor dub quality lowers Average View Duration on the dubbed track, and a low-AVD track doesn’t just fail abroad — it drags down the algorithm’s promotion of your primary-language video too. So a bad Spanish dub you can’t read can quietly cost you English views. 3. The opportunity
A platform changed the rules under 3 million businesses overnight and shipped a deliberately blunt control. YouTube’s incentive is reach, not per-creator polish, so they gave one channel-wide toggle and moved on. That leaves a gap with two unacceptable corners and an empty middle.
The dubbing incumbents — DittoDub ($97/mo), Dubverse, Vozo, ElevenLabs — sit on the wrong corner. Their pitch is “abandon YouTube’s free dub and pay us to redub from scratch.” That’s expensive, it’s per-video labor, and crucially it cannibalizes their own business to build the cheap thing: a tool that keeps YouTube’s free dub and only fixes the 10% that embarrasses you is the opposite of “buy all your dubs from us.” They won’t build it.
