Every tool in live-event ops is built for the touring side — the artist or tour manager who sends the advance. Nobody is building for the venue on the receiving end. That gap is now exploitable because multimodal LLMs got cheap and reliable enough (mid-2025 onward) to read a rider PDF, a hand-drawn stage plot image, and a hospitality list, then diff all three against a house’s fixed capabilities — a task that a year ago needed a human production manager squinting at attachments.

3. The opportunity
Advancing is a two-sided workflow, and the entire market builds for one side. The tour manager sends a technical rider, a stage plot, an input list, and a hospitality rider — each in whatever format that act uses. The venue’s production manager (or the working GM at a 300-cap club) receives 15–30 of these a month, each different, and has to answer the only question the house cares about: “Given what we actually own and can do, what does this specific band need that we don’t have, and what do I have to fix before doors?”
Today that reconciliation is manual: open the PDF, read the stage plot, compare against the house pack (backline we own, channels on the console, available power/circuits, load-in constraints, comp policy, curfew), and hand-type a house show sheet — for every band, every night. Miss a line and you’re renting a bass amp at 4pm or explaining to a headliner why there’s no drum riser.
The incumbents can’t easily flip to serve this seat: their whole data model is “the tour” (one artist, many dates). The venue’s model is inverted — “the room” (one venue, many artists). The AI does three jobs a human production manager does today: (1) extract structured requirements from unstructured, inconsistent inputs (PDF riders, hand-drawn stage plots, free-text hospitality); (2) reconcile those against the house pack and surface only the gaps that matter to this room; (3) draft the confirming advance-back. Without reliable multimodal parsing of a scrawled stage plot, the whole thing collapses into manual data entry and there’s no product.
