3. The opportunity
The recon-software market is real and proven — but it’s split in two. At the top, Rapid Recon and vAuto serve franchise dealers at $750+/mo, with implementation, training, and account managers. At the bottom, tools like Simple Recon and ReconditionPro are cheaper but still manual — a human has to log into the board and click each step forward. Nobody updates the board in real time, so the board drifts from reality, so people stop trusting it, so they go back to walking the lot and asking “where’s the silver Altima?”
The gap: a tool priced for a 10–80 car independent lot that eliminates the manual data entry entirely. The recon tech already photographs every car at intake and at each stage (it’s how listings get built).
