2. Trend signal — why now?

Three converging facts that did not exist 12 months ago:

  1. Pix Automático became mandatory across all Brazilian banks on Jan 1, 2026 (BCB Resolution 505/2025). Every account-holding adult in Brazil can now authorize one-tap recurring debit straight from their bank app — no card, no boleto, no friction. EBANX is projecting 41% month-over-month transaction growth on Pix Automático through May 2026 — the ramp is happening right now, four months in.
  2. Credit cards lost the crown. Pix accounted for 44% of Brazil’s online payment volume by end of 2025; cards dropped to 41%. Sixty million Brazilian adults have no credit card at all. For service businesses billing recurring fees, that is not a rounding error — it is the entire wallet.
  3. Vertical recurring-revenue businesses are bleeding. Brazilian gyms with average ticket of R$119 run 18% inadimplência on boleto; on properly implemented recurring debit it drops to 3–5%. Personal trainers report manual chasing eats 2–4 days every month. The category is loud about it: Cakto, Pacto, EBANX, PagBrasil, Asaas, Iugu, Stone, Cora, BB and Vindi all shipped Pix Automático launch posts in the last 90 days.

The PSPs sell APIs and dashboards. Vertical SaaS (Pacto, Tecnofit) sells full-stack at R$300–800/mo to gyms with 200+ students. Nobody is shipping a focused, sub-R$100/mo, WhatsApp-first cobrança cockpit for the long tail of solo professionals and micro-studios who don’t fit either bucket.

3. The opportunity

Pix Automático is the most consequential payment-rail change Brazil has shipped since Pix itself in 2020. But the consent UX is brutal: the customer has to receive a link, open their bank app, find the Pix Automático approvals tab, verify the recipient, set the cap, and confirm — within a deadline. If the operator (a personal trainer with 35 students, no developer, no marketing team) sends a raw Asaas link via WhatsApp, half the students will bounce off the bank-app step.

Incumbents:

  • Asaas / Iugu / Vindi / Stone — generic PSPs. Free or near-free monthly, R$0.99–1.99 per transaction. Powerful but the operator has to build their own onboarding flow, their own WhatsApp blasts, their own collection chases, their own NF-e issuance. Designed for businesses with a developer.
  • Pacto / Tecnofit / Vedius / MFit — vertical SaaS for academias and personal trainers. Full stack (booking, training plans, financial). R$300–800/mo. Wrong shape and price for a yoga teacher with 20 students or a marketing freelancer with 12 retainer clients.
  • Cakto / Hotmart / Eduzz / Kiwify — infoprodutor checkouts. 5–10% take rate. Great for one-off course sales, awful for low-margin recurring services (a 9% slice of a R$200 mensalidade kills the math).

The wedge: a vertical-agnostic but service-business-specific middleware that sits between Asaas/Iugu and the operator’s WhatsApp, with a 90-second guided consent flow, monthly auto-debit + auto-WhatsApp receipt, NF-e auto-issuance (NFS-e mandatory for autonomous professionals as of Jan 2026), and a single dashboard the operator opens twice a month. Sub-R$100/mo flat. No per-transaction take.

4. Target market

  • Primary customer: Brazilian solo professional or 1–3 person micro-studio billing 5–80 fixed monthly clients. Specifically: independent personal trainers, yoga/pilates instructors, language tutors, music teachers, marketing freelancers, small consultancies, micro infoprodutores under R$50k MRR. Roughly R$5k–80k MRR per operator.
  • Why they buy: “Eu perco 2 dias por mês cobrando os mesmos 30 alunos. Sempre tem 5 que atrasam. Eu odeio esse trabalho.” Manual chasing eats their evenings; 15–25% of monthly revenue is late or never paid; they don’t want a R$400/mo gym SaaS but they need something.
  • Rough TAM reasoning: Conservative back-of-envelope. Brazil has ~280k registered personal trainers (CONFEF), ~50k pilates/yoga instructors, ~80k language tutors, ~120k registered marketing/business consultants below MEI ceiling. That’s >500k operators. Even at 0.5% penetration → 2,500 customers × R$79/mo × 12 = R$2.4M ARR. 1% → R$5M.
  • Why now for them: Pix Automático lets them say “set it once, never chase me again” to every client. Before Jan 2026 this was technically possible but operationally a nightmare. Now it’s a 90-second flow.

5. Product sketch (MVP)

6. AI angle — what’s load-bearing

Two places AI does real work:

  1. Inadimplência cobrança copywriter agent. Each follow-up WhatsApp message is generated in the operator’s tone (warm-and-friendly trainer vs no-nonsense consultant), localized to the client (a long-term loyal student vs a chronic late-payer), and stops the moment the client either pays or pushes back. This replaces the 2–4 days/month of manual message drafting. Without LLMs in the loop, you ship a templated nudge that operators turn off because it sounds like spam — and the entire wedge collapses.
  2. Consent-failure diagnostic. When a Pix Automático consent fails, the bank’s error responses are useless (“erro 402”). An LLM matched against the live bank-app screenshots the client sends and the PSP’s webhook tells the operator: “Marina tried to approve in the Itaú app but hit the daily Pix limit cap of R$1,000 — ask her to raise it temporarily.” That diagnostic-by-conversation is the difference between a 30% and 75% consent activation rate, and it’s exactly where pre-LLM tools could not go.

If you remove the AI, you have a worse Asaas with prettier WhatsApp templates. With the AI, you have something an operator will pay R$79/mo to keep on forever.

7. Localization angle (if any)

This is a Brazil-only play and that is the moat for the first 12 months. Pix Automático does not exist anywhere else; the Open Finance consent token mechanic is BCB-specific; NFS-e auto-issuance is Brazilian municipal-tax plumbing; WhatsApp is the dominant business comms channel (98% Brazilian smartphone penetration). Every layer of the product hard-codes assumptions that would not transfer to Mexico, Argentina, or India without a full rebuild. That’s fine — the local TAM alone is enough to clear $5M ARR.

Pricing in BRL: R$59/mo for ≤25 clients, R$99/mo for ≤80 clients, R$159/mo for ≤200 clients (the upper bound is mostly to upsell into the next tier — anything above 200 is well into Pacto/Tecnofit territory). No per-transaction take. PSP fees pass through transparently.

8. Business model — path to $1M–$5M ARR
