2. Trend signal — why now?
Certificate-of-insurance processing is the single most-complained-about task inside independent insurance agencies, and the daily grind is finally cheap to kill with an LLM that can read a messy request email and a policy and produce a compliant form.

3. The opportunity
The COI software market is split into two camps, and both miss the small agency’s actual daily pain:
- Tracking platforms (myCOI, Certificial, ExpiryEdge) serve the requester — GCs, property managers, procurement — who track whether their vendors stay compliant. Wrong customer. That’s not the agency drowning in requests.
- Issuance platforms are either bundled into a full AMS rip-and-replace (NowCerts at $59–199/user/mo is your management system) or require joining a network (Certificial’s SmartCOI needs the 25k-agency graph to deliver its value). Certificate Hero leans toward contract review for larger brokers.
Nobody serves the 2–10 person agency that already runs AMS360, Applied Epic, EZLynx, or HawkSoft and just wants the request-to-certificate loop to disappear — without switching systems, joining a network, or paying per-seat AMS money. CertSwift is a thin AI layer that lives in the agency’s inbox: a request arrives, it drafts the correct ACORD 25 against the actual policy, and — the load-bearing part — it flags when the contract demands an endorsement (additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary & non-contributory) that the policy doesn’t actually carry. That last check is what turns a 9.2%-error, 45-minute job into a 2-minute reviewed-and-sent one, and it’s the part the bundled incumbents treat as an afterthought.

6. AI angle — what’s load-bearing
Remove the AI and there’s no product. Two jobs are pure model work:
- Unstructured request → structured intent. Real COI requests are free-text email (“need a cert for the new build, same as last time but add the GC as additional insured”). Turning that into named holder + required limits + required endorsements is language understanding, not a form.
- The endorsement-gap judgment. Matching a contract’s insurance requirements against a policy’s actual endorsement schedule — and knowing that an “additional insured ✓” checkbox without a CG 20 10/20 37 on the policy means no coverage — is exactly the nuanced cross-document reasoning that was unreliable before recent models and is now cheap. A dumb template tool would still fill the ACORD 25. It would not catch the gap that gets the agency sued. That gap-check is the moat-adjacent value.

N/A — this is a US-only play. ACORD forms, CG-series endorsement codes, and the independent-agency channel are US-specific institutions. The right move is to dominate US small commercial agencies, not dilute into other markets where the document standards are entirely different. (The UK/EU analog would be a separate product, not a localization.)
