3. The opportunity
The incumbent here isn’t a competitor — it’s the absence of a tool, plus a category (DMS) that is structurally aligned against the buyer.
When a brand runs a “buy 10 cases, get 1 free” scheme or a ₹50/case festive incentive, the distributor funds it upfront at the retailer level, then files a claim back to the brand for reimbursement. Same for goods that arrive damaged or expire on the shelf — the distributor files a damage/expiry claim. In practice:
- The brand’s ASM/RSM is the gatekeeper, and the claim format, deadline, and proof requirements change per brand and per scheme.
