Three things converged in the last twelve months.

First, dental denials got worse and the appeal gap stayed wide open. The dental claim stack is crowded at the front (clearinghouses, eligibility verification, denial prediction) and empty at the back (what do you actually do after the denial letter arrives). Vyne runs 84,000 practices and bolted on NovoDynamics AI for claim analysis, but that lives inside their submission pipeline. DentalXChange’s AI is “narrowly focused on verification — it does not yet include claim narratives, denial prediction, or payment posting.” Nobody sells a focused tool that takes a specific denial reason + the patient’s chart and hands the office manager a finished appeal.

The incumbents do a bad job here because appeal drafting is unsexy per-instance labor: read the denial code, pull the clinical notes, find the right CDT justification and X-ray, write a persuasive narrative that maps chart to the payer’s stated criteria, format it to that payer’s submission channel. It’s the exact shape AI collapses — a 20-minute human task into a 2-minute review-and-submit. And it’s a task the incumbents’ pipeline-embedded AI doesn’t touch because it happens outside their claim-submission flow, in the practice’s inbox, after rejection.

Both are LLM-native tasks that were flaky two years ago and are reliable now.
