The estimate is sent. Then nothing. That silence is where most home-service revenue dies.

The numbers are not subtle. Industry analysis of contractor sales puts the estimate-to-signed-contract conversion at 25–40% — meaning 60–75% of quotes never close, and price is rarely the primary reason (Stellabots, 2026). The cause is structural: 44% of contractors give up after a single follow-up, while 80% of closed sales happen between the fifth and twelfth contact (Conversion Surgery, 2026). The follow-up exists only as a mental note — “call them Thursday” — and the next estimate buries the old one.

It is not laziness; it is distaste. Contractors say it out loud. Every tool in this market today does dumb cadence: it fires pre-written messages on estimate-created, estimate-declined, invoice-paid events. QuoteIQ describes its automation exactly that way — “triggers on real customer events.” PaintScout, Automation For Painters, Jobber — same shape. A timer and a template.

The timer breaks the moment the homeowner replies with anything other than “yes.” “Can you come down a bit?” “What about just the deck?” “We’re getting another quote, give us a week.” A drip sequence can’t answer those — it either keeps blindly sending or dumps the lead on the contractor, who is on a roof and won’t see the text for six hours. By then the homeowner has signed with the contractor who did answer.

WarmRing owns the gap between “quote sent” and “job won.” It is not a CRM and not an estimating tool — it plugs into the one you already use. It is the salesperson the solo contractor can’t afford to hire: it runs the 6–12 touch cadence the data says works, and critically, it handles the conversation — answering scope and material questions from the estimate line-items, negotiating within price floors the contractor sets per job, and escalating to the contractor only when a real human decision is needed (a scope change beyond bounds, a “call me” request).   • Why they buy: “I send the quote and then I just… hope. I know I’m leaving money on the table but I hate chasing people, and by Thursday I’ve forgotten anyway.” Their workaround is memory, and memory loses.

6. AI angle — what’s load-bearing

Remove the AI and you have QuoteIQ’s drip — a thing that already exists and that contractors turn off. The AI is the product in three load-bearing places:

  1. Holding the conversation. Free-text homeowner replies are unbounded (“is that price with the railing or not?”, “my wife wants gray not white, does that change anything?”). Matching those to estimate line-items and answering correctly is an LLM job, not a decision tree.
  2. Negotiating within bounds. The agent has to decide when to offer a concession (only after genuine price resistance, never on the first “hmm”) and which one — judgment, expressed in language, constrained by hard rules the contractor sets. That’s the defensible core.
