2. Trend signal — why now?

Connecticut just put 1,150 schools on a hard deadline. Every Connecticut public school district must conduct an annual EPA Tools-for-Schools IAQ inspection for every building by December 31, 2026, post the results publicly, and present them at a board of education meeting (Public Act 22-118, codified at C.G.S. § 10-220(d)). On top of that, starting July 1, 2026, districts must conduct uniform HVAC inspections of 20% of their buildings each year through June 30, 2031, performed by a certified TAB technician, industrial hygienist, or mechanical engineer. Connecticut Department of Administrative Services confirmed the schedule in a March 2026 facilities advisory. California is right behind. The IAQ regulatory wave just turned classrooms into a recurring compliance surface, and the existing supply has the wrong shape:

  • Awair Omni sells to large district facility teams with BMS retrofits. Quote-on-request, multi-month sales cycle, integration with HVAC controls assumed. The Hartford Public Schools account, not the K-3 charter in Bristol.
  • uHoo, Aranet, Awair Element, AirVisual are great hardware but ship as consumer / pro-sumer products. No compliance reporting layer. No EPA-Tools-for-Schools template. No board-meeting summary. The principal still has to run the classroom walks, transcribe readings into a Word doc, and submit a stack of paper.
  • Local HVAC contractors offer one-off TAB inspections at $400–$1,200 per building. Not continuous. Not parent-portal-ready. Not budget-friendly for a 4-school district.

AirRoll fills the gap with three pieces:
